Acrocombat Movie Martial Arts and Tricks

Many people say that the movie industry has destroyed the image of traditional martial arts. The truth is the movie industry has created something that is a martial art of its own. In this class, you will learn to look like an action hero by kicking, flipping, and falling. You will also learn how to handle staves, nunchakus, and other weapons just like a pro. Just when you think you’ve mastered everything, we’ll move on to flying takedowns and throws. This class is for all levels of ability even if you’ve never tumbled before in your life.

Beginers:


At this stage, Your focus should be on gaining flexibility, strength, and balance you need to move up to the more advanced levels. Also, you will be learning the fundamentals of movement, so that you have better control when you learn advanced moves.


Typical beginner moves:
shoulder rolls
breakfalls
handstands
cartwheels (Au)
basic kicks and spin kicks
figure 8's with staff, nunchaku, sticks, and other weapons

Intermediate:


You can now move on to developing the air sense that you need to be able to do the more complicated tricks while continuing to develop your flexibility, strength, and balance.

Typical intermediate moves:
jumping spin kicks
Y-kick (Au Batido) kick with one leg while standing on one hand
back extension (back roll to handstand)
butterfly kick
back handspring
handroll with nunchaku or staff

Advanced:


Now that you have some air sense you can start to work on more complicated tricks such as twisting flips. You can also work on combining tricks into combinations of two or three, or work on doing tricks with a weapon in your hand.

Typical advanced moves:
butterfly twist
flares
half twisting aerial cartwheel
roundoff-backhandspring-flashkick
double nunchaku handrolls while throwing nunchaku into the air
